Negative Sentences - Present tense in Marathi

 “नाही “(nAhI) is the word used for negation in Marathi.

Simple present tense

The sentence structure is
Subjective/Doer    verb+(t)    नाही (nAhI)/नाहीस(nAhIs)/नाहीत nAhIt

Selection of नाही/“नाहीस /“नाहीत depends on pronoun. Below table list

Examples :- 

I do not speak                     मी बोलत नाही  (mI bolat nAhI )
He does not walk                  तो चालत नाही (to chAlat nAhI )
You do not eat                      तू खात नाहीस (tU khAt nAhIs)
They do not dance                 ते नाचत नाहीत  (te nAchat nAhIt) 


Present Continuous Tense
Negative Sentence structure is :-
Subjective/Doer     verb+ (t) नाही “(nAhI) form of असणे(“asaNe”)
मी                                बोलत              नाही                      आहे

Examples :-
I am speaking                        I am not speaking
मी बोलत आहे(mI bolat Ahe)       --> मी बोलत नाही आहे(mI bolat nAhI Ahe)

He is walking.              -->   He is not walking
तो चालतो आहे(to chAlato Ahe)       -->  तो चालत नाही आहे(to chAlat nAhI Ahe)

She is speaking.          -->  She is not speaking.                                    
ती बोलते आहे(tI bolate Ahe)         -->  ती बोलत नाही आहे(tI bolat nAhI Ahe)        

It is moving.                  -->       It is not not moving.                 
ते हलते(te halate)           -->  ते हलत नाही आहे(te halat nAhI Ahe)            

They are dancing.         -->       They are not dancing.               
ते/त्या/ती नाचत आहेत          --> ते/त्या/ती नाचत नाही आहेत  
(te/tyA/tI nAchat Ahet)        (te/tyA/tI nAchat nAhI Ahet)

You are dancing.         -->        You are not dancing.                
तू नाचत आहेस(tU nAchat Ahes)   -->  तू नाचत नाही आहेस(tU nAchat nAhI Ahes) 

  
Present Perfect Tense
You know how to create positive sentences in Present Perfect Tense.
To make it negative, just add “नाही “(nAhI) before the form of असणे(“asaNe”)

e.g.
I have opened box  --> I have not opened box 
मी खोका उघडला आहे               --> मी खोका उघडला नाही आहे
(mI khokA ughaDalA Ahe)         (mI khokA ughaDalA nAhI Ahe)

I have spoken --> I have not spoken
मी बोललो आहे(mI bolalo Ahe)  --> मी बोललो नाही आहे(mI bolalo nAhI Ahe)

He has eaten Mango            --> He has not eaten mango
त्याने आंबा खाल्ला आहे               -->  त्याने आंबा खाल्ला नाही आहे
(tyAne AMbA khAllA Ahe)            (tyAne AMbA khAllA nAhI Ahe)
