Simple Present Tense of "To Be" in Marathi

Let's learn basic Marathi sentence formation in this lesson. In English the verb “To Be” has special significance. Its’ different forms are used along with other verb to indicate tense. Same is the case in Marathi.

“To Be” in English is असणे(“asaNe”) in Marathi.

In English “am”, ”are”, ”is” are different forms of “To be” for different pronouns. 
Similarly in Marathi there are different forms of असणे(“asaNe”)

Pronoun in English	Form of “To Be”	Pronoun in Marathi	Form ofअसणे(“asaNe”) in Marathi	Transliteration
I (male)	am	मी	आहे	Ahe
I (female)	am
we	are	आम्ही	आहोत	Ahot
we ( listener including)	are	आपण
You (singular male)	are	तू	आहेस	Ahes
You (singular female)	are
You (plural)	are	तुम्ही	आहात	AhAt
He / That (m.) / This (m.)	is	तो / तो / हा	आहे	Ahe
She / That (f.)/ This (f.)	is	ती / ती / ही
It / That(n.) / This (n.)	is	ते / ते / हे
They (Plural of He)  /Those (m.) /These (m.)	are	ते / ते / हे	आहेत	Ahet
They (Plural of She) / Those (f.) / These (f.)	are	त्या / त्या / ह्या
They (Plural of it) / Those (n.) / These (n.)	are	ती / ती / ही

So sentence in Marathi can be formed as :- 

I am :- मी आहे ( mI Ahe )

You are :- तुम्ही आहात  ( tumhI AhAt )

They are :- ते आहेत ( te Ahet )
We are :- आम्ही/आपण आहोत  ( AmhI/ApaN Ahot  )
