Using verb "Can/To be able to"

“To can” or “To be able to” in Marathi is “рд╢рдХрдгे” (shakaNe )

The sentence formation is
Subject    verb+рдК(U)       form of “рд╢рдХрдгे”  (shakaNe) as per tense and subject
рдоी                      рдЦाрдК                     рд╢рдХрддो

In all the tenses, the form of “рд╢рдХрдгे”  (shakaNe) is as per subject.
We have already seen how to prepare verb in simple present/past/future tense. So by applying those rules on verb "рд╢рдХрдгे" below are few examples :-

I can eat                            :- рдоी рдЦाрдК рд╢рдХрддो (mI khAU shakato )
He can sing                        :- рддो рдЧाрдК  рд╢рдХрддो (to gAU  shakato )
You(plural) could eat mango :- рддुрдо्рд╣ी рдЖंрдмा рдЦाрдК рд╢рдХрд▓ाрдд ( tumhI AMbA khAU  
                                                                          shakalAt )
You(plural) could eat chutney :-  рддुрдо्рд╣ी рдЪрдЯрдгी рдЦाрдК рд╢рдХрд▓ाрдд (tumhI chaTaNI  khAU 
                                                                            shakalAt)
She could dance                    :- рддी рдиाрдЪू рд╢рдХрд▓ी (tI nAchU shakalI )
They ( plural of she) will be able to move :- рдд्рдпा рд╣рд▓ू рд╢рдХрддीрд▓ (tyA halU shakatIl )

Negative sentence for Can

The sentence formation is
Subject    verb+рдК(U)     negative form of “рд╢рдХрдгे”  (shakaNe) as per tense and    
                                  subject
рдоी                      рдЦाрдК                     рд╢рдХрдд рдиाрд╣ी  

We have already seen rules for negative sentences. Using those we can create form “рд╢рдХрдгे
Examples :-
I can not eat :- рдоी рдЦाрдК рд╢рдХрдд рдиाрд╣ी  (mI khAU shakat nAhI  )
He can not sing :- рддो рдЧाрдК рд╢рдХрдд рдиाрд╣ी  (to gAU  shakat nAhI  )
She could not dance :- рддी рдиाрдЪू рд╢рдХрд▓ी рдиाрд╣ी  (tI nAchU shakalI nAhI)
You(plural) could not eat mango :- рддुрдо्рд╣ी рдЖंрдмा рдЦाрдК рд╢рдХрд▓ा рдиाрд╣ीрдд ( tumhI AMbA khAU shakalA nAhIt)
You(plural) could not eat chutney :-  рддुрдо्рд╣ी рдЪрдЯрдгी рдЦाрдК рд╢рдХрд▓ा рдиाрд╣ीрдд (tumhI chaTaNI  khAU shakalA nAhIt)
They ( plural of she)  will not be able to move :- рдд्рдпा рд╣рд▓ू рд╢рдХрдгाрд░ рдиाрд╣ीрдд  (tyA halU shakaNAr nAhIt)

Verb рдЬрдордгे (jamaNe) is also used to indicate ability for some action.
Sentence structure is
Form of subject woth preposition “To”
Object
main verb + рдЖрдпрд▓ा (AyalA)
Form of verb рдЬрдордгे (jamaNe) as per tense for neuter singular.
рдЬрдорд▓े(jamale ) рдЬрдорддे (jamate)
рдЬрдоेрд▓ (jamel  )
рдорд▓ा (malA)
рдХ्рд░िрдХेрдЯ(krikeT )
рдЦेрд│ाрдпрд▓ा (kheLAyalA)
рдЬрдорддे (jamate)

I can play cricket ->  рдорд▓ा рдХ्рд░िрдХेрдЯ рдЦेрд│ाрдпрд▓ा рдЬрдорддे  (malA krikeT kheLAyalA jamate )
I could  play cricket ->  рдорд▓ा рдХ्рд░िрдХेрдЯ рдЦेрд│ाрдпрд▓ा рдЬрдорд▓े (malA krikeT kheLAyalA jamale)
I will be able to play cricket ->  рдорд▓ा рдХ्рд░िрдХेрдЯ рдЦेрд│ाрдпрд▓ा рдЬрдоेрд▓ (malA krikeT kheLAyalA jamel)

He can eat mangoes -> рдд्рдпाрд▓ा рдЖंрдмे рдЦाрдпрд▓ा рдЬрдорддे  (tyAlA AMbe khAyalA jamate )
He could eat mangoes -> рдд्рдпाрд▓ा рдЖंрдмे рдЦाрдпрд▓ा рдЬрдорд▓े (tyAlA AMbe khAyalA jamale)
He will be able to eat mangoes :- рдд्рдпाрд▓ा рдЖंрдмे рдЦाрдпрд▓ा рдЬрдоेрд▓ (tyAlA AMbe khAyalA jamel)

Sometimes people tend to make form of verb рдЬрдордгे (jamaNe) as per gender and multiplicity of object. 
They could open box->рдд्рдпांрдиा рдЦोрдХा рдЙрдШрдбाрдпрд▓ा рдЬрдорд▓ा (tyAMnA khokA ughaDaayalaa jamalA)

They could open bag ->рдд्рдпांрдиा рдкेрдЯी рдЙрдШрдбाрдпрд▓ा рдЬрдорд▓ी (tyAMnA peTI ughaDaayalaa jamalI)

Verb рдЬрдордгे (jamaNe) has other meaning which is “To gather”. 
So if subject is not used with preposition “to” then, рдЬрдордгे (jamaNe) is used to mean “To gather”

e.g. рдд्рдпांрдиा рдмोрд▓ाрдпрд▓ा рдЬрдорд▓े. (tyAMnA bolAyalA jamale.) -> They could speak
But  рддे рдмोрд▓ाрдпрд▓ा рдЬрдорд▓े. (te bolAyalA jamale.)  -> They gathered to speak

рдЖрдо्рд╣ाрд▓ा рдкрд│ाрдпрд▓ा рдЬрдоेрд▓ (AmhAlA paLAyalA jamel) -> We will be able to run
рдЖрдо्рд╣ी рдкрд│ाрдпрд▓ा рдЬрдоू (AmhI paLAyalA jamU) -> We will gather to run

  1. Why is 'shakalI' not used here (for past tense)?
    She could not dance :- рддी рдиाрдЪू рд╢рдХрдд рдиाрд╣ी (tI nAchU shakat nAhI)
